First Annual Harmonica Blowout

The First Annual Harmonica Blowout at Pearl on June 27th was an outstanding show.  It had three of the important “B” vitamins: Blues, Barbecue, and ice cold Beer.  What better way to spend a hot Texas summer day?

Kent Viceroy and the Super Kings got the show going with a bang and it never slowed down.  The Tu-Tones were next and Mr. 18k and Stompin’ Bill Johnston were in fine form.  Harmonica virtuoso Paul Harrington was next and he set the bar pretty darn high.  But that was no problem for the all-star headliners!  The Hash Brown Band (Hash, Drew Alain, Kevin Schemerhorn) is always good and with guest artists Mike Morgan and Christian Dozzler they put a killer finish on the evening.  Wow!  Great food too courtesy of Back Country BBQ.  There was a huge crowd but the good folks at Pearl kept the cold beer flowing.

KNON Blues fans turned out in force and it was a lot of fun to see so many long-time friends out enjoying a night of great live Blues.  Kudos to KNON’s Sonnyboy Mark for pulling this one together.  Mark told me the most difficult thing was narrowing down the lineup to fit in the available time.  There are so many excellent Blues Harp players in North Texas that he couldn’t fit everyone he wanted.  I have a hunch the Second Annual Blues Harmonia Blowout is going to run longer so we can make time for even more of the talent we are blessed with here in North Texas.

If you missed that show I hope you have a really good excuse!  That was one to remember.
