Dixon Circle
I agree with Jim regarding the Dixon Circle melee. But, people of color must do a better job in cleaning up our communites. I live in the Pleasant Grove area, and we also have a drug house in addition to prostitution. But, instead of sitting back and allowing this vermin to take over our neighborhood, we've become proactive. Homeowners in the area have contacted our city council person (Ms. Vonceil Hill), on more than one occasion in order to enlist her help with everything from crime, code enforcement, and prostitution problems. If neighborhoods need IMMEDIATE help with neighborhood problems, then this is the route to take. We also have homeowners meetings which includes the police whose beat is in our area. I would encourage OUR neighborhoods to be more open-minded when it comes to the police. Of course, there are some bad apples, but we definitely do need them more so than not. If you are afraid to get involved, then do so anonymously. Everyone has a phone- so pick up the phone, contact your city council person, and/or 311 and help out the community. There is absolutely no reason for tax paying homeowners to lazily sit back and allow their communities to become drug infested.
